"Frig she's going to kill me." Ted cursed himself for letting his apartment get in such a state. The weekly dinners had been happening over at Rosie's flat so his place had been given a little bit of neglect. There was clothes littering the floor and sheets of paper in piles in the living room and not to mention the ink stain that he was currently trying to get out with his wand at the moment. Seriously, he may be great at Defense Against the Dark Arts, remembering all the spells he ever learned, but he had just tried three different cleaning charms and hell if they worked on the spot. He sighed, frustrated with the spot, and decided to come back to it. The least he could do was make it able to see his floors.
About three weeks ago Rosie had come home from her shift at Flourish and Botts and found Ted sleep on the floor. When she woke him up to inquire why in the world he was on the floor in the first place he wouldn't reply at first. Arguing that she wouldn't make him dinner unless he told her, he confessed that his back was hurting, all from his little couch that he had been sleeping on since she moved in with him. It wasn't that he minded her taking his bed, in fact he had offered her the bed and after much argument there she had been sleeping there. It was just that the couch didn't offer his back a lot of support which caused him to have a few aches and pains. It was then Rosie declared herself independent enough to move out.
Teddy had argued with her there (hell these two bicker a lot) saying that to get her parents to agree to let her move out, she had to come and live with him. That she wouldn't be safe living in a flat in the middle of no where by herself. While they were bickering, Ted's tenant came to the door to inform them that his next door neighbour had moved out, complaining about no creatures above the level 3 threat level were allowed in the flats. Rosie had looked at Ted then and he knew he couldn't have said no to her at that point.
So they made an agreement, each night Rosie would cook and they would have supper together. That way Ted wouldn't stare and he could also see how she was doing each day. Ted felt a little cheap with her making all their meals so he became the official dessert buyer/maker and wine connoisseur. Tonight was Ted's turn to host their dinner after being at Rosie's for a week simply because she had wanted to watch a movie after. Ted had installed a blasted TV when she lived with him in order to keep her entertained. She had gotten all her films from her parents and every once in a while they would pop in a VHS and watch something together. One time Ted had come home from work and found Rosie sobbing to some movie on his couch. Needless to say she wasn't alone watching movies much after that. He couldn't handle a crying Rosie.
So that's where Ted is. Frantically cleaning his flat so that Rosie won't scold him for making it so dirty. The papers would have to stay, he had to correct them soon enough anyways. He went to his kitchen then, drying off the bowls and pots that he had in soak. He opened the fridge with his foot to make sure his chocolate cake had set right after. He picked up his wand with his mouth and flicked it towards the bottle of red wine sitting in the side of the fridge. The bottle levitated out onto the counter beside the now dry pots. He was expected Rosie in exactly 45 seconds, and he could only hope that the place was now clean enough for her.

rosie'd gotten home late from work that evening. she'd been picking up afternoon shifts as a barmaid at the leaky cauldron to help pay the bills, and the bar had been pretty busy that evening. needless to say, she hadn't had time to whip up the feast she'd planned earlier that morning. instead, she figured a humbler meal would do. however disgruntled she was, disgruntledness wouldn't cook a meal. so she'd set to work immediately. she'd gotten quite good at cooking with magic as of late. it'd only been once she'd stopped living in her parents' house that she'd really needed it. of course, she'd cooked before. but her mum never let her use magic around something the entire family was about to eat. after all, rosie had never been too good at magic, and hermione assumed she'd probably poision the food. but once she'd moved in with teddy, and seen how poorly he ate most of the time, she'd commandeered a stack of cook books from flourish & blotts, and trained herself up on the art of cooking with magic. so it didn't take her long to whip up a meal. she marinated the chicken in garlic with her right hand while charming a knife to slice the potatoes with her left. after levitating the chicken into a frying pan, she started on the vegetables. the potatoes were tossed into a pot of boiling water as the broccoli and cauliflower sliced itself into bite-sized chunks. rosie hummed to herself as she worked, sliding her wand behind her ear whenever she needed both hands, trying a bite of each of the foods before dishing them up. she threw off her apron and pulled her hair out of the tight bun she'd put it in before starting work. a flick towards the counter and the army of steaming dishes she'd just created levitated into the air. she brought them with her towards the door, opening it to let the food through before maneuvering her way down to ted's door. a knock later and she pushed the door open with her free hand, letting the food in before entering herself. ted's place didn't look so hot. but then again, she'd always been the one to clean up around here when he wasn't looking. however bad rosie was at defense spells and all the other rubbish she'd tried to cram in her head at hogwarts, she'd always been bloody brilliant at household spells. so she supposed she could help ted out when he wasn't looking. for some reason, he didn't like the help. typical man. he could've just asked. pushing the door closed behind her with her foot, she guided the food onto the awaiting table before kicking off her heels and sticking her wand in the side of her skirt for safe keeping. she made her way over to the counter with the wine on it. "how'd i do on time?" she asked him, an easy smile on her face as she reached up on tiptoe to get some wine glasses from the cupboard. she supposed she should've left the heels on; at least then she wouldn't have to stretch. tagged: teddy, darling! <3 words: a couple. outfit: here.notes: rosie can always tell when he hasn't been cleaning. Ted was just finishing cleaning the last pot when he heard the familiar knock on the door. He cursed, knowing he still didn't get to sweep the floors and that ink blot from grading was still on the couch. He turned his head around sheepishly and gave her a soft smile, as if to say sorry for the mess of the place. He'd have to watch out though, he knew how she like to clean for him. He could do his own magic thank you very much.
He took the dishtowel that was resting by the sink and dried his hands. "On time as always. Seriously don't know how you manage that with the schedule you've got." Ted chuckled, tightening the roll on his sleeves as he pulled out his wand. He flicked it towards the broom in the corner and it got to work quickly cleaning the mess he didn't get. "I blame exams for the state of my flat." Ted declared, smirking as she tried for herself to get the wine glasses. He reached around her and grabbed two flutes, laying them on the table.
He eyed dinner then with a lick of his lips. He could feel his mouth water at the sight of her cooking. Rosie had said when she was younger she wasn't allowed to cook but Ted never understood why, because the meals she made now were simply perfect in his mind. Mind you he'd been living off the bare essentials before she came along, but still these meals were brilliant. All he could do to make up for her generosity was be in charge of dessert and wine. Kinda of easy in Ted's mind.
"Looks brilliant as always." Said Ted as he pulled out Rosie's chair for her and poured her a glass of red wine. He sat down in his chair then and noticed that the broom was sweeping the dirt into one of his loafers. He cursed. "I can never get that bloody spell to work like I want it to." he said, shaking his head, serving himself to some chicken and broccoli. "So what's the plan for tonight? Movie is it?" Ted asked, digging into his meal. tagged: rosie m'dear. words: a few. music: none. notes: at least you gave him a break, for now (;

she grinned at his comment. "it's magical, isn't it?" she answered cheekily, watching him with her eyebrows raised as he prodded the broom and pan into motion. they looked a bit droopy, and with a place as messy as teddy's, rosie couldn't blame them. poor things. she gave teddy a look as he reached over her to grab the wine glasses from the cupboard. really, she could manage. as small as she was, she'd become accustomed to stretching for high places. he blamed exams for the state of his place? she couldn't help but laugh. "oh really? and what's your excuse gonna be once exams are over?" she asked him, eyebrows raised, that smirk still on her face, brown eyes watching him. he always had an excuse, didn't he? and a rubbish one at that. but rosie supposed she would forgive him. she always did. it was quite comical, actually, to listen to the things he came up with. in truth, rosie believed he was just overworked, and that he rarely had time for anything but grading papers. and it really did show. the place was a bit of a wreck. rosie supposed she didn't mind though; she'd never seen it clean after she moved out. on occasion, she'd excuse herself to use the restroom, and instead use a few charms to tidy up. she couldn't help herself. messes made her squirm. probably because her mother always made her clean up after herself, so much that it'd become habit. "why thank you," she laughed, settling down in the chair he pulled out for her and taking a sip of the wine. quite good, she wondered where he'd gotten it. he always found the best wine, somehow. rosie hadn't a clue where to procure it. after all, she'd have to wait at least four more years before she could buy it from muggle stores. and wizarding liquor stores usually didn't sell it. she watched in interest as his broom and dustpan rebelled against him. a moment later, her wand was out. she flicked it lazily at the broom and pan, sending them across the room to sweep up in the corner. "there," she muttered, satisfied as she put her wand away and watched the pair working together. "sorta like pets, aren't they?" she mused, smiling and refocusing her gaze on teddy. she served herself up a plate of food, starting to eat as she listened to his question. shrugging, she plopped some potatoes on her plate. "movie sounds good," she answered, tucking into her food. "unless, of course, you're bored of kid's films." the only movies rosie really had were animated disney flicks. she had a few oldies as well, but those were the ones that made her cry the most, so teddy usually forbid her from watching them. tagged: teddy, darling! <3 words: a couple. outfit: here.notes: she'll go easy on him, don't worry.
