the silence between the shelves of flourish & blotts was one of rosie's favorite things about the place. it wasn't dead quiet, but every little noise was deadened a bit by the sheer volume of books between her and the outside world. it was like she was in her own little bubble, and it was a nice quiet environment for her to think, something she enjoyed doing quite a lot.
at the moment, she was shelving books. there were a few people in the store, but none of them looked close to needing to buy anything soon, so she'd decided to get the new shipments on the shelves. it was a relaxing, methodical process, and she actually quite enjoyed it. she was just pulling a few new volumes of magical beasts and where to find them out of the box to put on a shelf when a customer came up to her, asking her to ring them up.
she obliged, and five minutes later, after a smile and a 'have a nice day', she was standing behind the counter. just as the bell above the door rang, and a familiar man stepped inside. someone she hadn't seen in a while. someone she'd missed quite a lot.

"I need a batch of flowers. Colorful if possible."
What started out as an boring, quiet day turned into an unplanned trip to Flourish and Blotts. Yes, there were places in Spain that had beautiful flowers, colors so bright that it sometimes caused your eyes to hurt. But in Zagen's mind nothing could beat Flourish and Blotts. To him, the colors were nicer and bolder. Course that was his way of thinking.
Calmly, Zagen walked down the way, enjoying the busy sounds of Diagon Alley that fine day, holding a bag over his shoulder with other belongings he was asked to pick up. Or things he decided for someone special in his life. He chuckled to himself, loving how the end of Hogwarts brought new things for him. Honestly, he couldn't believe that this happened to him of all people.
As he headed threw the store front, the bell jingling as he opened the door, a wide happy smile escaped his lips as the girl behind the conter. Now that was someone he thought he would never see again. "Rosie doll! What are you doing here?" He laughed grinning at the girl he treated as another sister, one he could never ever be mad at.

rosie'd worked at the bookshop now for a few months. ever since she'd told her parents that she was quitting school. she didn't want to be a burden on anyone, and as such, she figured she'd get a job and try her best to support herself. for the past couple months, she'd just scraped by. she took up some late-night shifts as a barmaid at the leaky cauldron to make ends meet. every sickle counted, right?
she grinned at the sight of zagen, making her way around the counter to give him a hug. she'd missed him in the months since graduation. she wondered what he'd decided to spend his life doing. with a brain like his, he could probably be an auror. or better. but for some reason, rosie thought that perhaps he'd gone down a different path. after all, he didn't really seem like the auror type.
"i work here, silly," she answered, as she pulled away from the hug, rolling her eyes and smiling. "gotta pay the bills somehow." she tilted her head to the side a bit, pushing her hair out of her eyes and giving him a look. "the real question is, what are you doing here, mister? and why haven't i seen you lately?"

He softly laughed wrapping his arms around the tiny form of Rosie Weasley. If he didn't have Eeva to talk to for support, then he had Rosie. Well he still does but that's not the point. The male patted her head, staring down at her as she answered his question.
"Your working here? Guess its better then other places then." He joked, grinning at the girl who was younger then him by a year. He let go of the hug, resting his hands in his pockets as he listened to her other words. What has he done these past months. A smile escaped his lips.
"I been busy. I'm working for Esteban's father as security and its been a busy few weeks you see. I'm on an errand for him now actually, and a few other things. I need a colorful batch of flowers. Dunno why." He shrugged, grinning at her. "How you been Rosie doll?"

she'd admit it; she'd missed him. terribly, in fact. and she didn't know why they hadn't seen each other since graduation. that'd been a horrible idea. she hoped that their friendship wouldn't resort to this: seeing each other accidentally every couple months and talking about nonsense like what they'd been doing. she'd hoped they were better friends than that. and perhaps they could yet save their friendship.
she rolled her eyes at him. "you're este's daddy's flower boy, and you're dissing my job?" she asked him, eyebrows raised, a mischievous smile on her face. "sounds like you've got quite a thrilling job yourself." she giggled, wondering absently how esteban was doing. now, she'd seen him recently. they'd bumped into each other when he'd been buying books for the new school year, and they'd been writing letters back and forth since then, considering she wouldn't be able to see him everyday in class anymore. she wondered why he hadn't mentioned that his father had hired zagen.
she shrugged, folding her arms across her chest. "i suppose i've been alright. it's peaceful working here. much less stressful than living at hogwarts, anyways," she joked. anyone who'd gone to hogwarts last year knew what she was talking about. she hadn't known if she'd be able to survive another year living in that castle. and maybe that'd been part of the reason why she'd left. "and there're a couple of bouquets outside if you really need some," she mentioned. flourish & blotts had taken to selling flowers out of the front for some time now, to make a few extra galleons.

Zagen rolled his eyes at her joke, leaning against the counter as he placed the bag on his shoulder by his feet. He laughed ever so softly, unable to not laugh at the hufflepuffs words. She was that bubbly person you could not help but laugh with. "I'm not his flower boy Rosie. I'm part of his security, making sure no one tries to do anything funny or what not. Its a very important job." He remarked, titling his head as he watched her.
He couldn't help but nod at her words, remembering how last year was full of twists and turns. It was a chaotic year. "That is true. Between the kidnaps, and the general insanity, its nice to not be involved with that every single day. I already heard that some insanity already happened, in the first week no less. Is the world mad Rosie? Or is it just me?" He admitted giving a laugh in reply.

she scrunched her nose, laughing with him. "nahh, you definitely are his flower boy," she teased him, wiggling her eyebrows at him. "although i suppose that is a pretty important job. where would the king be without his flowers." she chuckled, giving him a sly look.
he seemed to settle in quite nicely to the book store. and honestly, she didn't mind the company. she often got a bit lonely working there all day by herself. after all, most days she was the only worker that was needed. flourish and blotts, while popular, wasn't so much so that there were lines or crowds or anything. it was just a bookstore. a quite, nice, relaxing bookstore. an awfully lonely place, if rosie had anything to say about it. but she combatted that by spending her time outside work with other people. she'd invite teddy over for dinner or go out for a drink with james. anything just to be around people.
she nodded, agreeing with him. it was almost a relief to not have to worry about the death eaters popping out to beat the shit out of her when she was walking down the street. of course, she knew they were still around, knew that avery and lestrange and crouch couldn't possibly have given up their high ambitions. but at the moment, they were working quietly. and as much as that made rosie uneasy, it was also much better than them being at large in the community.
"it's not just you," she answered, shaking her head. a slight frown came to her face. "i can't help wondering what the death eaters are up to these days," she voiced her concerns aloud. "you heard anything about what they could be planning?"

Zagen snorted moving to grab a chair sitting in it with a thud. He enjoyed talking to her, and he really missed it. In fact, he had enough to think that if he wasn't with Nicola, or she wasn't with Teddy, then the two would be a perfect couple. That's what he thought anyway. He nodded quietly as he listened to her words, grumbling ever so softly. "Honestly Rosie do I look like a flower-boy type? Really?" He snorted, looking at her in reply.
He nodded quietly at her words about the DE. They have gotten very quiet now that he thought of it. In fact, he hasn't heard much from them, or about them out here in the open.
"I heard something interesting about something that happened at school. I got a message from an slytherin classmate who said that there was a pretty bad incident involving Murtagh and a certain DE second...but around here nothing is really happening." He admitted quietly, frowning a little at the thought. Even he was a little taken aback from what he heard.

she plopped down in a nearby armchair, slipping off her heels and tucking her legs underneath her. all she needed now was a nice hot cup of tea, and she could talk to zagen all afternoon. the few people that'd been in the shop earlier had made their way out, not buying anything. she supposed a few more customers would come in, but she wasn't expecting much. usually tuesday afternoons were quiet enough. people had work to be at and such.
she laughed at his question. "no, i suppose not. but looks can be deceiving, y'know," she told him raising an eyebrow, a smile on her face. she'd never been one to judge books by their covers. it just wasn't how she was. she knew zagen's job must be important. of course, she'd always thought body guards were just thugs with guns, but perhaps she was wrong. after all, zagen was quite intelligent.
at his words, rosie's smile faded, and a look of concern took its place. she knew murtagh; he was a friend of hers. and finn avery had never been terribly gentle when it came to 'incidents'. "what happened? is murt alright?" she asked, tilting her head a bit to the side. she wondered what the 'incident' had been about.
"i wonder what they're up to," she mused, narrowing her eyes. "they must be planning something, and it scares me senseless to think what it could be. but sometime or another, something's going to happen. and i really do hope we're prepared when it does."

Zagen leaned back in the chair, arms behind his head. His eyes looked upwards at the ceiling breathing in the scents of the different flowers. In a strange way, this place was exteremly relaxing. Warm, inviting and so lovely.
"Indeed. Looks can be deceiving. I mean really, would anyone think that me of all people would have a kid and probably more?" He remarked, giving a bright grin, beaming at the mention of his son and future. It was beyond imaginable.
But his smile faded a bit as he thought of Murt. "I'm not sure what the fight was about, or why...but Murt surirved. He didn't come out unscratched. Take what Avery did to me, and times it by ten." He remarked unable to tell sweet Rosie what poor Murt suffered from. It was...just not something you could tell a sweet girl.

it was nice to see zagen relaxing for once. after his encounter with avery, rosie had rarely seen him not on edge. of course, something like that could scar someone for life. but zagen was a strong guy; rosie knew he could handle it. but it still made her cringe to think of all the things he'd had to go through in his life. it just wasn't fair.
at his mention of kids and 'probably more', rosie couldn't help but smile. as unkind as life had been to zagen, at least he had nicola. and the two of them were perfect for each other. absolutely perfect. "how's nic?" she asked, genuinely interested. the girl was still in school. or at least, rosie thought she was. she hadn't heard from the girl in a while.
rosie grimaced at her friend's next comment. she couldn't imagine anything worse than what avery had done to zagne. and so it pained her to think that something like that could happen to murt, someone she called a friend. and even if they weren't particularly close, perhaps she should send him an get-well-soon owl. after all, there was nothing quite like having the crap kicked out of you by finn avery.
"doesn't sound pretty," she commented, a slight frown still on her face. "i'd really like to know what it was about, though," she thought out loud. "i can't imagine what he could've done."

Zagen turned his head at her direction, leaning his chair back with his foot. His eyes looked over the lovely girl in front of him before he gave a soft grin. "Nicola is doing rather well. She's still in school, because I forced her too. I see her every weekend and bring little Adrian with me. Its going to be a rather interesting year thats for sure. If, and when we have another kid...would you like to be their god-mother?" He replied unable to help but smile. He loved his kid and his future wife. At least something worked out for him in the end.
He thought over what Rosie mentioned before about what the DE were planning, and about what happened to Murt. "I think, from what I heard, that it wasn't because of the DE or something. I think it was because of something Murt hid from Avery. From there, everything got torn to shreds so to speak..." He admitted quietly, leaning back nodding at her direction. "I swear the guy is mad. I swear." He added after a moment of thought.

she smiled. "that's always good," she answered. nicola had always seemed like a fragile person to rosie. and she knew zagen was good at protecting his girl. but at the same time, she worried about the two of them. it was only a matter of time before the death eaters used zagen and nicola's relationship against them. and that wasn't a position rosie would've liked to be in. she just hoped the two of them and their son would make it out unscathed.
"when, definitely when," she commented. they would have more kids, of that rosie was sure. they could hardly keep their hands off each other, after all. "i'd love to be," she answered his question, a grin coming to her face. jesus, she'd never been a godmother before. she hoped it wasn't too difficult of a task. from what she'd heard, all you really needed to do was buy your godchildren loads of gifts. and rosie was quite good at gift-buying.
rosie flinched at the words torn to shreds. she knew what avery could do. if the guy decided to, he could probably rip a grown man to pieces with his bare hands. luckily, she didn't think that was on the top of his agenda at the moment. but it still made her shudder to think about what he'd done to murt. "you're probably right," she answered. "no one in their right mind would do that. he's completely mad."

Zagen listened to her words, leaning back against the chair. He closed his eyes laughing softly. He could be himself around Rosie, not act all that, not act brave. He could be himself...act like the child he never was. It gave him a sense of relief in a way. "Yes it is good. I promised her that I'll visit her as often as I could. She agreed." He replied looking over at her. He stared at her curly hair unable to stop thinking about it. So wavy. "Oh we will have more. I just know it. It's just a matter of time. You'll be an excellent god-mother Rosie. I just know it." He added with a grin.
He did pause to think over what she commented on Avery. "Honestly, Avery and I were alike once upon a time. I mean I have thought of losing that much control and going that far. But lately I manged to remain steady head. Avery...it just seems the simplest thing throws him off the rails. The guy is completely mad and insane." He remarked nodding ever so softly.

it was nice to know that at least someone in the world was completely and totally happy. zagen and nicola deserved to be together, and to be happy. rosie knew she wouldn't've liked to be in nicola's shoes at the moment. why be in school when you were already a mother? when you already had someone you loved and could settle down with? besides, nicola was smart. she could probably get a job somewhere without even taking her n.e.w.t.s.
rosie gave him a look. "and you'd better keep that promise, mister," she told him. "or you'll have me to answer too as well as her." rosie hoped he'd keep visiting her. there was nothing more irritating than having one person in a relationship still in school. after all, rosie would know. she'd been there, done that. it was a hard thing to get through, but if anyone could do it, it was nicola and zagen. besides, they had a kid to help them through it too.
she shook her head. "lucky that you stopped being like him," she commented. "i don't think the world could've handled two finn averys." she frowned a bit at zagen's next comment. "i wonder what makes him the way he is. i mean, maybe he just had a rough life."
